Workshop final announcement:
Dear Colleagues,
We look forward to seeing all of you at our Exoplanets and Binaries
workshop in Tel Aviv next week.
Here is some further helpful information for your travel and stay in Tel Aviv.
- Taxi
the best way to get to the hotel from the airport is by taxi.
The Hotel address is:
Grand Beach Hotel
250 Hayarkon Street,
Tel Aviv
Taxis operate from the airport 24 hours a day. The taxi dispatcher is to your
left after you exit the arrivals hall to the street on the ground level. The
regulated flat rate to the hotel is around 140 NIS. When you ask the driver
for the flat rate make sure he turns off the meter. Also, we recommend that
you ask for a receipt at the end of the ride. No tipping of taxi drivers is
expected. Israeli currency can be obtained at cash machines in the luggage
pick-up area (before customs). The cash machines accept most international
credit cards. Today's exchange rates are 1 EUR = 4.93 NIS, and1 USD = 3.81 NIS.
- Getting to the meeting venue
The meeting venue is in the Diaspora Museum, located *on campus* at Tel Aviv
University. On Monday morning we have arranged for a bus to take you from the
hotel to the University. The bus will depart promptly at 8:25 AM from the
street entrance to the hotel. (There will be daily bus transportation).
Registration will be at 8:45 Monday morning, December 17th, at the Diaspora
Musuem conference venue.
If you miss the bus, or are arriving later, the best way to get to campus is
by taxi. The taxi ride should be *on the meter*, and from the hotel should
cost around 35 NIS in normal traffic. It is a 15-20 minute ride. Tell the
driver to let you off at Gate #2, Diaspora Museum entrance to the Tel Aviv
University campus. (In Hebrew, Diaspora Museum is "Beit-Hatfu'tsot". However,
most taxi drivers speak English, and they all know where Gate #2 is.)
- Passport
Please bring your passport with you to the meeting. Entrance to the campus
involves a superficial security check, and you need to show some ID.
Passport is best.
- Some phone numbers
If you need to contact us for any reason, our cell phone numbers were
sent to the participants by email.
Please do not hesitate to contact us by phone for whatever reason.
- Weather
According to the 10-day weather forecast we can expect (typical) mild sunny
weather next week (max around 20C), but rain is possible. Please note that
Jerusalem can be significantly cooler.
We are looking forward to a great meeting. Have a good trip, and see you all
on Monday morning
Best wishes,
